Handmade stoneware

Hello! My name is Autumn Saulnier, and I am the face behind Snow Goose Stoneware. I am an Alberta girl with deep familial roots in rural Nova Scotia and have spent my entire life surrounded by the diverse and unending beauty of Canada’s landscapes, flora, and fauna. When I took up pottery, I found myself reimmersed and recentred on my connection with nature, and I have carried that connection into the design of my wares.

As an anthropology and earth sciences student, I find myself constantly in awe of pottery. As the ancient Greeks believed, humans were sculpted and created from clay. I find it beautifully cyclical that for thousands of years, humans themselves have created pottery for personal, interpersonal, sacred, secular, decorative, and functional purposes. The connection between humans and clay is undoubtedly remarkable.

Snow Goose Stoneware is named after the snow geese that visit Beaverhill Lake near my home during their biannual migration. Each piece is made with intention and care, featuring motifs inspired by the beautiful world around me.
